Daniel (Damian), Tyler and Daniel

Christmas 2010 through 2011

"A saviour's birth and peace on earth and praise to God on high. Merry Christmas to you."

Daniel Mubiru to Tyler Treadwell

Dear Friend Tyler,

With your friendly messages to me, there is hope that our friendship will keep us together. I eagerly wait to read the guidelines on how to play bowling. As we were in our fellowship group, we discussed how we can introduce such un common games in our community so that other people can be involved in other games other than the common games in the area. It will attract more youth to Christ and hence strength in our faith.

Did you know that I was promoted to a high class year and I write this, am sitting in my new classroom? There is more reading, writing and revising in this new class.

Bye bye

Damian

Correspondence March 2010 through December 2010

My name is Daniel Mubiru. I am 14 years old, in the seventh grade, and a member of the Sounds of Hope youth program in Uganda. I live at home with my parents, three sisters, two brothers, pigs, chickens and a dog. We have a large family.

Christian teens around the world share their faith

My chores include fetching water, collecting firewood, cleaning my home and washing clothes and utensils. I love going to the theatre and my favorite performance is Katititra. I walk one mile each way to school five days a week. It is not far to walk.

I go to church regularly with my family and my favorite hymn is Ebirabo. I hope to grow up to be a doctor.

"Dear Daniel ... it is great to hear from you. I know what it is like to have so many siblings. I have two brothers and two sisters. I'm the baby of my family but I am taller than my whole family. Also, I, too, love the theatre. It is good to hear that, even in other countries, theatre is still alive and popular. Good luck with your efforts to become a doctor. I'm happy to note that we have the same name.

What I like about our youth group is that all my friends go to youth meetings. I have a handful of friends that I can talk to about anything. At youth group we go Christmas caroling and always sing 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing' I like this Christmas hymn because it is easy to sing and it is loud - just like me!"

Hello Daniel Ermert,

Making me your Bible pal is a gift to me. My dad is Emmanuel and my mom is Monica. My dad died and my mom is bedridden. Am living with her. Join others to play is what I learn from others.

My best subjects are science and Social Studies.

Christian youth activities: Bible Trivia

Hello Daniel My Name is Tyler, and im going to be your new pen pal. Daniel had to go off to college. Let me tell you about myself, im 16 years old, and im in 11th grade. I been a member of Christans Under the Stairs for 3 years, and so far i love being a member. i have one half brother, but no sisters. I have 2 dogs at my dads house. My Moms name is Lorna, and My Dads name is Donato. i love going to the theatre too, my favorite performance is Phantom of the Opera. My Favorite hymn in church is Here I am Lord. When i grow up i hope to become a video game designer. I am in the eleventh grade. I like sports, particularly bowling. In youth group I like our olympics - the bowling, the running events and a game we call Bible Trivia. It is a contest to see who remembers the most from all of our lessons during the youth group year.

I want you to know that I will pray for you. The fact that you lost your dad is hard. I really enjoy bowling with my dad. To have to take care of your mom, who is bedridden truly makes you a special person. You say you like the theatre and that your favorite performance is Katititra. I never heard of Katititra. What is this play about?

I like youth group because I have friends there and I get a chance to help others during our many programs, like "Hope for the Future". Well i Hope to hear from you soon!

Your new Bible pen pal, Tyler.

Comment and Challenge from Lindsay Ullmann, United Kingdom

Hi ... my name is Lindsay Ullmann. I started to write poetry when I was your age and it helped me to learn more about myself as a person. I grew to understand that I had to search to just find myself . I am in my 20's and now am a professional songwriter and singer. So if we turn our thoughts around into something positive we can accomplish almost anything - through creativity and spirituality.

Daniel, do you feel that you have had a wake up call in life like I had through poetry, when I was your age? If so, would you care to share? Would you agree that creativity and spirituality can help us and also those around us?

Dear My new Bible Pen pal,

First of all I thank you for having come in for Daniel was going to miss out on this great program that is exciting us all. The katitira is about a sturborn kid who wanted to do away with his/her parents and finally suffered in the world but still he never got repentant. Thank you for the great heart you have for others. At sounds of hope, we also see some children who are needy coming to school and the centre provides them free education which is great for us. My mom passed away and am now total orphan but am glad sounds of hope is there to come and give a helping hand with my education.

My dear dad passed away and I dearly miss both of them. I hope to hear from you again for details.

Hello Daniel

I am glad that i took over after Daniel, and became your new penpal. I am very sorry for the lose of your mom. My mom is still alive and so is my dad. I thank God for them everyday. I will make sure the next time I write to you I'll put the guidelines on how to play bowling, if your still interested on learning.

I was wondering what do you do on your spare time for fun? Well I'm glad that you have wonderful people taking care of you. Also Danny says hi and that he loves you too. Well I hope to hear from you again.

From,

Tyler
